Get maintained reliability with the Hamilton Cams Flat Tappet Conversion Kit With Camshaft 07-CC-24V19+. In 2019 the diesel engine in the Ram
2500/3500 changed to a hydraulic roller valvetrain. Although used for many years in the automotive industry, it has not made good impressions in terms
of reliability in these hard-working trucks like its predecessor that used flat tappet style valvetrain.
With a hydraulic roller valvetrain, you have a lifter that has a roller wheel that rides on the camshaft as it rotates to actuate the valves. The lifter body itself is filled using
pressurized oil from the oiling system to maintain the correct valve lash at the rocker arm.
There are generally three types of lifter failure you can see. First, being failure of the lifter from incorrect oil weight which will results in oil not entering the lifter quick
enough to lubricate properly, resulting in a collapsed lifter. Second, the lifter retaining pin having too much play from the factory which will result in a lifter spinning in the
bore and eating the camshaft, resulting in engine failure. Third, being that debris will get caught in the bearing of the roller which will cause it to stop rolling and destroy
the lobe of the camshaft resulting in engine failure.
Hamilton Cams has resolved this issue with this flat tappet conversion kit. The kit is compete with a 178/208 forged camshaft, DLC coated steel tappets, upgraded
pushrods, and adjustable rocker arms with DLC coated trunnions. With this upgrade, it will result in the continued reliability from the trucks of years past.
This kit works on stock trucks with no other modifications required.
